KCET contracted me to do one of my favorite things: design a modular system for their 50th anniversary traveling kiosk. Although many possible forms came into my head, I wanted to create a design that was accessible to everyone: adults, children and ADA accessible. The design inspiration was purely Los Angeles, from case study architects, such as Neutra and Schindler, to Ray Kappe. A way in which KCET tends to engage the community, is to ask pertinent questions related to a story, or subject. For the 50th Anniversary, KCET asked: "How do you envision a better California?". The marquee was chosen not only because it's yet another point of user engagement to display 5x7 in. response cards, but the marquee is also conceptual reference to the history of the entertainment industry.
